The Sealed Book

Question:

Please explain Isa. 29: 11, 12 compared to the explanation made by the Latter-day Saints.

Answer:

The reader may make his own comparison. The passage reads: “And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.”

It states a general truth concerning a backslidden people in all the great crises of history. Turning from God, they cannot read or understand His prophetic warnings. That was true at the first advent. It is definitely true now in these last days regarding the book of Revelation and other prophecies. The learned men say,” “It is sealed; it can not be understood.” The ignorant, who follow men instead of God, say, “I am not learned; ask the pastor or priest.” But God desires us all to know His Word.
