Is There Forgiveness?

Question:

If a person commits a sin or sins that he knows are wrong, will the Lord forgive him, or will the Holy Spirit be taken from him?

Answer:

Let’s remind ourselves again, perhaps for the hundredth time, that “Every sin that is repentable is forgivable.” If God grants repentance, He will also grant forgiveness. If there is genuine sorrow in the heart because of the sin, forgiveness is available from God. God’s mercy has no end; “His mercy endureth forever.” Peter believed that forgiveness should have its limit at seven times, but Jesus told him that he should forgive seventy times seven (Luke 17:3-4; Matt. 18:21-22). Please read the parable that follows. The real danger is not in God’s failure to show mercy but in man’s love of sin, which becomes such a part of him that he no longer truly repents or desires forgiveness.
