From whom does the whole family in heaven and on earth receive their name, God the Father or Christ the Son? Is it revealed in His Word what that family name will be?
Answer:
According to Ephesians 3:14-15, the family name comes from the Father: “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.” Most other Bible versions state it similarly to the NASB: “For this reason I bend my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.” While we do not know which of the Father’s distinguished names will be used as the family name, it may be “Jehovah,” God’s great covenant name.
