Question:
How do you know you have the truth?
Answer:
We know we have the truth solely through the Word of God. Every doctrine we hold, except one, is supported by various other denominations and a multitude of scholars. While the Bible is sufficient on its own, independent of what others may say, believe, or hold, it is noteworthy that the Scriptures are so clear that people from different denominations acknowledge the truth, even when it contradicts their practices.
This clarity applies to beliefs about the Sabbath, the literal second coming of Christ, the nearness of His return, conditional immortality, the inheritance of God’s people in the renewed earth, the truth about the millennium, and several other teachings. Different denominations affirm these beliefs, not because they are included in denominational creeds, but because they are rooted in the Bible.
The one exception to this is what can be referred to as the teaching concerning the sanctuary; the ministry for sin illustrated by types in the Old Testament pointing to the ministry of our Lord in the sanctuary established by God in heaven. We do not have the space in this brief note to provide evidence for each of these beliefs, but they can all be found in the Word.
