Tithes and Increase

Question:

If I buy property for $400,000, live on it, and improve it for seven years, and at the end of that time sell it, owing to circumstances, but can get only $200,000, is there any increase in it, or tithe for the Lord?

Answer:

In general, no, but in particular, it depends. If the $400,000 invested initially was not tithed, the $200,000 proceeds should be tithed. If the $400,000 was from money duly tithed and money had not increased in value more than double during the seven years, no tithe would be paid from the $200,000. But if the $200,000 would now buy as much as $500,000 would then, then $100,000 ought to be tithed. The question can only be clearly answered by knowing all the facts. Take it to the Lord in prayer.
